Abia Govt Selects Area For Multi-billion Naira Agro Processing Facility

Abia State government has selected Umunneochi local government area among two others in the state for citing of multi billion naira agro industrial processing facility, assuring that this will happen soon.
The governor, Alex Otti announced this, yesterday, at the flag-off ceremony of the construction of the 11.27 kilometres Mbala – Umuaku – Ngodo in the area

His words: “The area occupies a unique place in the geography and socio economic evolution of the state in particular and the South East in general. I assure you that the project is the beginning of what is to come.”

“Structured to radically transform the agricultural ecosystems in the State, the facility shall integrate productions, aggregation and processing of agro commodities for local consumption and export.”
He used the forum to thank the people for their “steadfast commitment to our cause and for consistently supporting the vision of a new Abia where no part of the State is abandoned to criminal elements”.

“Our success in the restoration of security in this part, points to what is possible when we work in unity as leaders to solve the social and economic problems facing our communities.

“We may belong to different political linings, and groups but the welfare of the good people of Umunneochi must never be sacrificed on the altar of petty partisan politics.”

Otti also assured them that the Leru – Lekwesi – Lokpanta – Lokpaukwu road which they had requested the government to fix had already been earmarked for reconstruction.

In their respective remarks, the member representing Isuikwuato /Umunneochi federal constituency , Amobi Ogah, and the minister of state for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejiocha lauded Otti for the project.

Similarly, the member for Umunneochi constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mathias Umeh and the commissioner for Lands and Housing Chaka Chukwumerije said the road would bring great relief to the people.

Earlier in an address, the commissioner for Works, Otumchere Oti noted that the road when completed would cause growth in agribusiness in the area and provide both direct and indirect employment.
