Abia State deputy governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has assured that the Alex Otti administration would not neglect youths in the state for obvious strategic reasons.

Emetu stated this when a delegation of the state chapter of the youth wing of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Umuahia, the capital.

He said the administration cannot afford to neglect the youths “who form over 60 percent of the population of the state as the bedrock and catalyst for the development of the state.

“This is one of the major reasons the administration is determined to ensure that a greater number of you are gainfully employed to boost your capacity and harness your potentials.”

The deputy governor expressed appreciation to the youths for their contributions to Otti’s victory at the poll in the last general election, saying the administration would not disappoint them.

Emetu, who assured the delegation of his support for their objectives, implored them to continue to pray for the success of the administration to deliver on its campaign promises.

President of the chapter, Eugene Okonta, said the wing had over the years played crucial roles in instilling good morals in Catholic youths and promoting ecumenism.

Okonta, whose address was read by the secretary of the chapter, Vincent Ibekwe also said they came to express their appreciation to the administration for its efforts in transforming the state.

They, therefore, used the forum to solicit Emetu’s support for their participation in their forthcoming national conference in Enugu State, later in the year.
