The member representing Obingwa West constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna-Erondu Jnr, has flagged off grading of rural roads in Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo federal constituency.
During the ceremony at Ntigha-Umuaro in Obingwa local government area, yesterday, Uchenna-Erondu decried the deplorable state of the roads and the challenges they pose to the users.
His words: “The roads are very crucial for improving the quality of life in the rural areas. And they ought to be graded without further delay to alleviate the suffering of the users.”
The House Committee chairman on Public Service said when completed, the roads will enhance rural accessibility, facilitate economic growth and boost the quality of life of the people.
He expressed gratitude to the people for the confidence they placed in him, assuring that he would continue to prioritize projects that would have a direct impact on their lives.
In a comment, his counterpart in the Ugwunagbo constituency, Chijioke Uruakpa, expressed gratitude that the roads will enhance farming and socio-economic development in the constituency.
The chairman of stakeholders of the area, Rowland Nwakanma lauded the legislator for embarking on the project, adding that they had never seen such for a long while.
An elder statesman and former chairman of the area, Isaac Ogbonna, thanked Uchenna- Erondu for the project, describing it as “apt with respect to the forthcoming farming season”.
In a remark, the Peoples Democratic Party chairman for the area, Ahamefula Egbulefu, lauded the legislator for the project “which none of our lawmakers at both the state and National Assembly had ever done”.
