Abịa State Muslims have appreciated the cordial relationship existing between the Dr Alex Otti administration and the Ummah, praying for improvement and sustenance of the relationship.
The chief imam of the state, Shiek Ali Ukiwe stated this while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday after leading a delegation of the Umma on a Sallah homage to Otti at his Nvosi country home.
Ukiwe commended the governor for sponsoring some members of the Umma for this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca, the prevailing peace and the ongoing infrastructure transformation in the state.
The cleric expressed the hope that the governor would revisit the issue of the revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy of the Umma’s burial ground in Umuahia, which was revoked by the previous administration.
During the homage, the governor called for peace, love, unity, understanding and tolerance among Nigerians irrespective of tribal, ethnic or religious differences.
“It’s lack of understanding that makes people discriminate and kill others.
If we understand clearly that God created us equally, then we won’t see some of the problems we are seeing in the country.
“That is why our administration doesn’t discriminate. I am sure you are aware that our Head of Service is from Edo State. We have literally abolished state of origin here.
“So, if you live here and you are a good citizen of the country and you pay your taxes here and contribute to the development here, you are from here,” Otti assured the Umma.
In a message while congratulating the Umma, a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, said the country would achieve much if the citizens embrace love, peace, religious tolerance and understanding.
