Abia Petitions Tinubu Over Allegations Against Otti

Abia State government has petitioned President Bola Tinubu and the security chiefs over trending allegations against Governor Alex Otti by two different groups at separate news conferences.

The groups had alleged that Otti was sponsoring the litigation of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and using the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to cause terror in the state.

The special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma stated this, yesterday, while reacting to the allegations at a press conference in Umuahia, the state capital.

He said they went further to call for the governorship election verdict billed for Friday not to be delivered in the state because the government plans to intimidate the tribunal to favour Otti.

“Or alternatively would ensure that the judges would be killed if they fail to deliver judgement in favour of the governor,” according to the special adviser.

He said the petition became necessary because the allegations are weighty and have the propensity to cause disaffection, insecurity and breakdown of law and order.

Maintaining that the allegations could endanger the lives and property of innocent citizens of the state, he added, “We strongly and most respectively make the following demands and submission.

“That President Tinubu, the Chief Of Army Staff, the National Security Adviser, and the inspector general of police should kindly use their good offices to cause immediate and thorough investigation into these allegations.”

Ekeoma, therefore, appealed that the security agencies should invite the organisers of the conferences to explain their action and source of information for them to get to the root of the matter.
