Abia State chief imam, Ali Ukiwe, has said Muslims from the state who are on pilgrimage in Mecca would use the opportunity to pray for the governor, Alex Otti, the state and the country at large.

Ukiwe spoke to LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday in Umuahia from Mecca as Muslims in the country joined other faithful for the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebration.

He said the prayer became necessary for Allah to continue to protect and guide the governor on the good work he was doing for peace and harmony in the state and across the country.

He said, “Our prayer is for the Almighty Allah to continue to use Otti to execute the numerous developmental programmes and policies he has embarked on to reposition the state.

“And this is why we’re also praying for peace, harmony and unity in the state and the country because without them, there will be no room for any meaningful development.”

He called on the Umma and members of other faiths back home irrespective of any differences to join hands in prayers for the governor to remain focused for the good of the state.
