Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun yesterday called on functionaries of the three tiers of government and other well-meaning Nigerians to always work towards providing better welfare packages for families left behind by members of the nation’s armed forces who fought to keep the country united.

Abiodun stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after laying the wreath at the year 2025 edition of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held at the Arcade ground of the Governor’s Office Complex in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.

He stated that the only way to immortalise the legacies of what the fallen heroes fought to preserve is to adequately care for their families so that their labours may not be in vain.

“It is just to remember all those who have lived as a sacrifice to protect our dear nation from external or internal conflicts.

“We not only remember them for paying the supreme price but also those they left behind, their widows and widowers. We must not remember them in just one day, but we must take time to remember them in our little ways every day of the year. We should show them love”.

“We should try to identify them, and some of what they need is just for us to show that we care about them. These people have gone far beyond to do things that many of us will never want to do, and we must do everything to ensure that Nigeria remains an indivisible entity.
