The search and rescue operations at the site of the two-storey building that collapsed on Saturday morning in Kubwa District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja has been called off after four persons trapped under the rubble were rescued alive.
The rescue operation ended at about 4pm on Saturday evening after emergency workers cleared the fallen rubble to ground zero to be sure that no one was left under the debris.
While three of the rescued persons taken to the hospital were treated of minor injuries and discharged, one of them was still being attended to due to more serious injuries.
The rescue team comprised of officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), FCT emergency management department, fire service, the Nigerian Police and NSCDC, among others.
The collapsed structure was part of a two-storey building located beside Cupid Hotel, located on Sultan Dansuki Road, Phase 2, Site 2, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
