The Abuja Body of Comedians (ABC) has congratulated the newly deployed commissioner of police (CP) Benneth Igweh to the nation’s capital and urged him to intensify the ongoing efforts at making the city safe for all.
While recalling the CP’s track record in fighting crime, appealed to him to apply the vigour and tactics in routing out all forms of criminalities in Abuja.
The group’s president, Onome Ohwodo popularly called MC Onome Da Saint in a statement at the weekend, particularly charged the police boss to tackle kidnapping, banditry and “one-chance” a name for robbing residents in vehicles.
Igweh had pledged to tackle kidnapping, ‘one chance’ robbery, banditry and other crimes in FCT.
The comedians said, “Kidnapping, banditry, and incidents of ‘one-chance’ have become serious concerns for our residents and we believe that your expertise and strategic approach will be instrumental in combating these challenges.
“We have faith in your ability to lead and inspire your team to work tirelessly towards ensuring the safety and security of our beloved city. Your leadership will play a crucial role in restoring a sense of peace and tranquility in the hearts of our residents, allowing them to go about their daily lives without fear or apprehension,” he said.
The group while assuring the CP of its support and cooperation in any initiatives or campaigns aimed at promoting safety and security also remarked that humor can be a powerful tool in raising awareness and fostering community engagement, saying its members are ready to collaborate with the FCT command in creating impactful and meaningful campaigns.
