Vice chancellor of Africa School of Economics, Abuja, Professor Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, has been honoured for his contribution to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in higher education.
The recognition came in the form of a Global Golden Award Chartered Fellowship Certificate, presented to him by Professor Bashiru Aremu, the first African UNESCO Laureate and International Chairman of the Africa Information Technology Consultancy.
The award was handed over at Professor Adedimeji’s office in Abuja, acknowledging his role in using ICT to advance learning through his work as a professor of Pragmatics and Linguistics.
The Africa Information Technology Consultancy, which has a global presence, said the honour was in appreciation of his philosophy of merging technology with education to promote efficiency, innovation and wider access.
Professor Aremu described Adedimeji as “a scholar whose commitment to digital transformation has helped in shaping higher education in Nigeria and beyond”.
Adedimeji, a Fulbright scholar and renowned academic with over 120 research publications, is also the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University in Kwara State.
He has held several leadership roles, including Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies at the University of Ilorin, and is a Fellow of the World Institute for Peace and the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.
With this latest recognition, Adedimeji joins an elite group of scholars pushing the boundaries of ICT in Africa, bridging education and technology globally.
