Abuja vs Lagos: Hood FC, Sir J FC Battle For  ₦4m 5Stars Crown

Abuja-based Hood FC will face Lagos side Sir J FC in the final of the 2026 5Stars Premier League, with both teams battling for the ₦4 million top prize and national bragging rights.

The decisive 7-a-side encounter is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, at the Showtime Arena, Lekki, Lagos, with kick-off set for 4pm.

The tournament, themed “The Reawakening 8 – Building the Future of African Sports Through 7-a-Side League”, started with 32 teams from Lagos and Abuja competing through regional stages for places in the national finale.

Hood FC emerged from the Abuja bracket after navigating a field that included All Stars, Turf Arena FC and Nero City FC, while Sir J FC booked their place in the final after overcoming their Lagos-based rivals.

The final pits two of the competition’s strongest sides against each other, with the ₦4 million prize adding further incentive to what is expected to be a keenly contested encounter.

Beyond the football, the organisers said a consignment of sports kits from Jersey in the United Kingdom, facilitated by former FA President Ricky Weir, has arrived for the successful players.

The finale is expected to draw government officials, corporate leaders, sports personalities and entertainment figures, including the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, the Ministers of Youth and Interior, Seyi Tinubu, Kunle Fakeye and former Super Eagles forward Obafemi Martins.

The event will also feature musical performances from Goya Menor, Bella Shmurda, Slimcase, Jaywillz, Dami Adenuga and SexySteel.

With the prize money, regional rivalry and national bragging rights at stake, Saturday’s encounter promises to provide a fitting climax to the eighth edition of the 5Stars Premier League.
