Divine Mercy American International Academy (DMAIA), a newly established day and boarding secondary school in Ochicha, Obike Ngor Okpala, Imo State, has achieved significant milestones in its inaugural year of operation.
The institution has announced the unveiling of a fully functional on-campus medical facility, the award of 85 scholarships and the establishment of a partnership with Lincoln University in the United States.
The newly established Divine Mercy Medical Centre, located on the DMAIA campus, provides immediate and comprehensive healthcare access for all students.
This on-site facility aims to ensure student welfare and professional medical attention within the school environment. In a move underscoring its commitment to accessible education, DMAIA has provided 85 scholarships to students in its first year.
DMAIA has also formalised a partnership with Lincoln University, USA. This collaboration is designed to offer DMAIA students pathways and exposure to international educational opportunities, broadening their academic horizons. DMAIA’s curriculum adheres to the Nigerian National Policy on Education, offering a broad range of subjects. Core subjects include English, Mathematics and Sciences.
The academy emphasises technology with a robust STEM program, including ICT and Design Technology, alongside offerings in Trade/Entrepreneurship, Humanities (History, Geography), Culture & Creative Arts (Music, Fine Arts, Physical Education), and a diverse Languages program (Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, and French).
The institution is founded by a Catholic priest and overseen by a board that includes American-based professors.
