Governorship candidate of Accord Party in Lagos State, Pastor Peter Obayuwana, has promised to transform the economy of the state and restore the excellence that the state is known for if elected in the 2023 governorship election.

Obayuwana who stated this in his New Year message urged Lagosians to vote for a candidate with high capability to transform the state and make life better for the people.

He said, “I promise to provide a leadership that will address your needs, transform the economy of Lagos and restore the excellence that the beautiful state of Lagos is known for.

“In a typical fashion, many Nigerians wake up on the first day of every year energised, working towards a new agenda, which forms part of what we know as the New Year resolution.

“As has been the tradition in Nigeria and in many other countries, the lines, which form the base for these resolutions become blurry and ultimately the words get mixed up and the resolution fades into oblivion. Very little of these resolutions is ever achieved.

“For this reason, I would like to advise Nigerians particularly Lagosians not to make this year 2023 about resolutions, but about the basic necessities of their lives. We all need water, electricity, food, shelter, good transportation system, security and a government that cares about the needs of the people.

“Borrowing the wise and honest words of President Muhammadu Buhari, I believe that the leadership of Lagos had tried its best. It is for us the good people of Lagos to decide whether ‘this best’ deserves another four-year mandate in a state where there is rising insecurity, corruption and many other problems challenging the growth of the economy.’’

Obayuwana said there is economic incoherence globally, saying even world powers are affected.
