A Nigerian-born accountant and corporate strategist, Oghogho Collins-Owens, has called for a renewed sense of responsibility and integrity in global finance, warning that unseen challenges are quietly shaping the future of economies.
Owens, who spoke to journalists in Abuja on yesterday, said finance should not merely be viewed as a profession but as a moral duty.
“Finance is more than a profession. It’s a responsibility — every decision we make should strengthen trust, not just balance sheets,” she said.
She said colleagues always described her as a strategic visionary. Owens has earned a reputation for transforming complex financial ideas into actionable strategies that drive both ethical and performance-based results.
“My career, which spans Nigeria and the United States, reflects a consistent pursuit of transparency, accountability, and institutional reform.
“In Nigeria’s banking sector, I held senior roles in corporate strategy and business development, where she led high-performing teams, executed market-driven campaigns, and strengthened stakeholder confidence through sound governance.
“I am serving in the U.S. public sector. Owens provides strategic oversight on financial management systems, develops performance metrics, and ensures compliance with fiscal regulations.
Armed with a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Benin, an MBA, and an IT Project Management certification from the University of Illinois Springfield, Owens continues to redefine leadership in finance by blending technical expertise with ethical insight.
“Strategy is my tool, ethics my compass, and accountability my legacy,” she said, reaffirming her belief that finance must always serve trust before profit.
