20 constitutional lawyers and activists led by Barr. Okere Kingdom, on behalf of a consortium of human rights/constitutional lawyers, have vowed to commence multiple legal actions in Court to quash the allegations of criminal conspiracy, money laundering against foremost businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had few days ago declared Achimugu wanted. The agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, made this known in a circular released via the EFCC’s X handle on Friday. According to the agency, Achimugu was wanted in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

But, the human rights/constitutional lawyers, in a statement on Sunday while describing the agency’s allegations against Achimugu as baseless, said they will also take legal action to quash the unfair declaration of the businesswoman wanted without due process and the raiding of her home and office.

The group said the coordinated attempt to undermine the right and integrity of a woman who has invested so much in Nigeria and built an international business can’t be tolerated, saying “the whole thing is a case of an organised intimidation and use of state power for political reasons to undermine a hardworking woman who is not a politician but being framed for things she didn’t do.”

The group said the legal battle, which will commence this week, will see to the end of what it called unjust persecution and deliberate plot to destroy the integrity and business expansion of a successful industrialist and businesswoman.

The group said, “We are commencing multiple legal actions to quash the baseless allegations of criminal conspiracy, money laundering against foremost successful businesswoman Aisha Achimugu. The coordinated attempt to undermine the right and integrity of a woman who have invested so much in Nigeria and build an international business can’t be tolerated, as the whole thing is a case of an organised intimidation and use of state power for political reasons to undermine a hardworking woman who is not a politician but been framed for things she didn’t do.

“It is curious that EFCC a few hours after this declaration invaded Aisha’s House located in Asokoro in Abuja, where they harassed her aged mother and would continue with similar despicable act at her house in Maitama. This violation of a citizen’s fundamental human rights and intimidation of her family members and staff is returning Nigeria to the dark days and we won’t fold our arms and let it happen. The legal battle which will commence this week will see to the end of these unjust persecution and deliberate plot to destroy the integrity and business expansion of a successful industrialist and businesswoman.”
