ACReSAL, Ministry Train Stakeholders On Gender Based Violence

Gender Based Violence (GBV) Service providers and stakeholders across relevant areas have been trained on how to respond effectively to the gender related cases in Bauchi State.

The one-day capacity building exercise was organised by Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape ACReSAL, a World Bank assisted project in collaboration with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development. 

At the opening of the training in Bauchi, the state project coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, said responding to cases related to GBV was part of the components of the project, hence the move to organise the multi-sectoral engagement with a view to strengthening the capacity of the  service providers and gender desk officers to be able to provide solution to the challenges.

Kabir who said ACReSAL recognised the performance of Bauchi State in areas of effective implementation, said the project was beyond restoration of land from degradation.

In a paper, the director, Centre for Nonviolence and Gender Advocacy in Nigeria, Obadia Samuel, said addressing the problem required the contributions of all relevant stakeholders.
