ActionAid Nigeria has won about 51 Gender Based Violence (GBV) court cases in Bauchi in years of activism and intervention in the state.

Similarly, it handled about 78 GBV court cases and managed about 799 GBV reported cases in the state.
Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria, Mr Andrew Mamedu, disclosed this in Bauchi at the weekend.

He said ActionAid reached about 413,008 women and girls to address GBV.
Represented by the deputy country director, Suwaiba Dankabo, Mr Mamedu said through the village savings loan scheme, women groups in Bauchi saved about N297,408,254.

“Since its inception in 2019, the WVL-N project has been driven by an unwavering commitment to empower women, challenge entrenched cultural practices, and promote gender equality.”

Through the invaluable support of Global Affairs Canada and the collaborative efforts of over 100 women’s rights organisations inclusive of one network organisation, three local women’s rights organisations and 12 community-based organisations here in Bauchi, we have provided direct support to 517,365 women and girls across communities in 18 LGAs.
