China-based Nigerian activist and social media personality, Bello Habid Galadanci, popularly known as Dan Bello, has broken his silence on his brief detention by security operatives at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano on his arrival from China on Saturday.

In an interview with DCL Hausa podcast service, Dan Bello disclosed that no clear reason was provided for his brief detention upon arrival in Kano. “They approached me, took my passport, and asked me to enter a car,” he said. “But then Barrister Abba Hikima arrived and they had a lengthy discussion. After about an hour and a half, they let me go. It wasn’t really an arrest per se, but what can you do? This is Nigeria.”

The activist, known for his viral exposés of alleged corruption and abuse of power in Nigeria, also stated that he was mentally prepared for such an encounter. “I came prepared with my prison wears because this is Nigeria,” he said, hinting at his expectation of possible confrontation with authorities.

Dan Bello assured the public that he was safe and urged followers to remain calm. “There is no need to worry, I’m fine now. Let’s just continue to pray for Nigeria to move in the right direction,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, no security agency has issued an official statement explaining the reason behind development at MAKIA.
