International peace advocate and human rights ambassador Dr Raymond Edoh has urged the Inspector-General of Police to prioritise the welfare and professional well-being of police personnel at the centre of security reforms.

Speaking during a media interaction, Edoh stated that effective policing in Nigeria’s complex security climate requires not only modern equipment and training but also a deliberate commitment to the motivation, welfare, and operational support of officers.

He warned that the country could not win the battle against rising security threats without a synergy-driven operational model.

According to him, fragmented security structures cannot defeat coordinated criminal networks, and closer collaboration among security agencies remains one of the most effective tools for national security.

He expressed confidence that improved welfare and deeper inter-agency cooperation would boost morale, strengthen professionalism and enhance national security outcomes.

Edoh also hailed the newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), describing him as a seasoned military professional capable of leading a new era in the nation’s defence system.

He said Nigerians across regions were optimistic and looking to the minister for strategic leadership, transparency and tangible results.

“General Musa has earned both national and international respect. Nigerians’ hopes are high, and we trust that he will not disappoint,” he said.

Edoh further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing, in his view, a competent and widely respected military leader to the defence portfolio.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting national peace efforts and urged citizens to cooperate with security institutions in building a safer and more secure country.
