Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, yesterday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had achieved full political integration following its state congress held in Yola.
Speaking at the congress yesterday, Fintiri described the event as a landmark in the political evolution of the APC in Adamawa, noting that the party had successfully transited from alignment to what he termed a “full fusion” of political structures across all levels.
He also announced the formation of the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement (ARH226M), a grassroots mobilisation structure covering all 226 wards of the state. The movement, he said, would be formally inaugurated in the coming week with leadership structures spanning from ward to state level.
He said the process leading to the congress began with the decision of some former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to align with the APC, a development he said was consistent with the party’s tradition of mergers and political accommodation.
According to him, the APC made necessary adjustments, including rescheduling its congress timetable in Adamawa, to accommodate the integration process.
Fintiri said the smooth execution of ward, local government, and state congresses reflected the political maturity of stakeholders and demonstrated a shared commitment to building a stronger and more competitive party structure in the state.
He commended President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and other stakeholders for their roles in facilitating the process.
According to the governor, the conclusion of the congress marked the emergence of a fully structured APC in Adamawa State with executive leadership across the ward, local government, and state levels.
Fintiri stressed that political integration required sacrifice and compromise, noting that while not all stakeholders may have achieved their individual expectations, “no one is a loser” in the process.
He charged the newly elected party executives to uphold fairness, accountability, and inclusiveness, adding that their primary responsibility is to strengthen the party and secure electoral victories from the presidential level down to the local councils.
Reaffirming his political stance, the governor declared his readiness to lead the APC in the state towards victory in the 2027 general elections, particularly in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Fintiri called on all APC support groups in the state to align with the new movement, stating that it would serve as a unified platform for political mobilisation across Adamawa State.
The governor congratulated the newly elected APC executives and described the congress as the beginning of a renewed political phase for the party in the state.
In his remarks, the new State chairman of the APC, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali noted with appreciation the party stakeholders and members for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged to carry everybody along to build the party stronger.
