The Adamawa State Executive Council has ratified the approval for the compensation of landowners affected by the acquisition of a site for the construction of a building materials market along Numan Road in Yola.
According to the government, the compensation will cost over N338 million.This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, while briefing newsmen after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House, Yola, on Thursday.
James also revealed that the council approved over N280 million for the digitisation of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), including the Cabinet Affairs Office and the Political Department, to bring their operations in line with global standards.
He noted that the contract has been awarded to Albashir Nigeria Limited as part of the government’s e-governance initiative.
Commissioner for Land and Survey, Mr. George Sama, explained that the building materials market would be relocated from Hospital Road to Yola-Numan Road.
He added that the move aligns with the urban renewal scheme aimed at enhancing the state’s aesthetic and functional outlook.
The special adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Dr. Ahmed Hammajam, said the digitisation project will enhance seamless operations and modernise administrative processes.
