Adamawa First Lady Hosts Northern Governors’ Wives, Unveils Projects

The Wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, has hosted members of the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum (NGWF) in Yola, where healthcare projects were commissioned and empowerment and humanitarian interventions unveiled.

The activities formed part of the Forum’s 2nd Tri-Annual Meeting hosted in Adamawa State.

The Forum, led by its Chairperson and Wife of the Gombe State Governor, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Bello, commissioned the renovated Labour Room, Special Baby Care Complex and CT Scan Centre at the Yola Specialist Hospital.

The facilities were renovated through the initiative of the Adamawa First Lady as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve maternal, newborn and diagnostic services in the state.

The upgraded facilities are expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare while creating a more conducive environment for patients and medical personnel.

As part of the programme, the Forum also empowered 200 beneficiaries with ₦20 million, with each beneficiary receiving financial support to strengthen businesses and other income-generating activities.

The First Ladies urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds in productive ventures that would improve their livelihoods and enable them to become economically self-reliant.

The Forum also distributed food and non-food items to 1,000 vulnerable households as part of efforts to provide relief to families facing economic challenges.

The interventions, covering healthcare, economic empowerment and humanitarian assistance, reflect the Forum’s focus on women’s empowerment, social protection and improved welfare for vulnerable communities across Northern Nigeria.

The commissioning and empowerment activities attracted government officials, women leaders, community organisations and other stakeholders from across Adamawa State.

Among those present were the Commissioners for Women Affairs and Transport, Hon. Neido G. Kofulto and Hon. Wunfe B. Anthony; wives of members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly; wives of local government chairmen, commissioners and permanent secretaries; as well as vice chairpersons from the 21 local government areas.

Representatives of the National Council for Women’s Societies, religious organisations, women’s groups and associations also attended the event.

The gathering underscored collaboration among government, women leaders and community organisations in advancing healthcare, economic empowerment and social support for vulnerable citizens.
