Adamawa Flags Off Distribution Of 42 Trucks of Rice To Vulnerable Residents

The Adamawa State Government on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of 42 trucks of 50kg bags of parboiled rice to less privileged and vulnerable residents across the state’s 21 local government areas.

The rice, procured by the various local councils, is being distributed at the rate of two trucks per local government as part of efforts to support citizens at the grassroots level, especially during the festive period.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony along Numan Road in Yola, the State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, said each local government would receive 1,200 bags of rice for onward distribution to beneficiaries.

He described the initiative as a collective gesture of goodwill by the council chairmen, aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by residents.

The commissioner commended the local government councils for the initiative and reaffirmed the commitment of the Fintiri-led administration to prioritising the welfare of the people, particularly the vulnerable, during critical periods.

Highlights of the flag-off included a tour of four designated distribution centres within the state capital by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, accompanied by some council chairmen, to monitor the commencement of the exercise.
