In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare delivery, the Adamawa State Government has officially handed over the site for the construction of a 150-bed Mother and Child Health Hospital to the appointed consultant and contractor.
The handover ceremony was conducted at the project site by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Zirra Mathias Bubanani, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Human Services. Speaking at the event, he reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare services, particularly for women and children.
Pharmacist Bubanani disclosed that the hospital project, with a completion timeline of 12 months, is aimed at significantly reducing maternal and infant mortality rates while boosting the overall healthcare system in the state.
The comprehensive project scope includes the construction of the Main Hospital Building, Medical Store and Facility Management Block, Morgue Block, 3-Bedroom and 2-Bedroom Quad Blocks, Power Houses 1 and 2, Gate Houses A, B, and C, as well as a Chapel, Mosque, and an Incinerator.
He charged the contractor to strictly adhere to project specifications, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure timely delivery. He also assured that the government would monitor the project closely to guarantee value for money.
In response, the consultant and contractor expressed gratitude to the state government for the assignment and pledged to deliver the project according to approved standards within the stipulated timeframe.
Once completed, the hospital is expected to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Adamawa State and provide a conducive environment for efficient and effective maternal and child healthcare services.
