The Adamawa State Government has distributed school uniforms, school bags and exercise books to pupils of Kikan and Zangun Primary Schools in Numan Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen basic education and boost school enrolment across the state.
The items were presented on Tuesday by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, who said the initiative was aimed at supporting young learners and complementing the government’s commitment to providing quality education.
Speaking during the distribution in both communities, Professor Farauta described primary education as the bedrock of academic and personal development, stressing that investment in children’s education remains essential to building a productive and prosperous society.
She explained that the intervention was her way of giving back to the communities, adding that the provision of school uniforms, bags and learning materials would encourage regular school attendance, improve pupils’ confidence and create a more conducive environment for learning.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Development, Aisha Umar, described the initiative as a reflection of the Deputy Governor’s passion and unwavering commitment to advancing education in Adamawa State.
According to her, the gesture has restored hope, confidence and dignity among the beneficiaries and would have a lasting positive impact on their educational journey. She commended Professor Farauta for her sustained support for the education sector.
In her remarks, the Headmistress of Kikan Primary School, Mrs. Yankumi Ajiya, thanked the Deputy Governor for the donation, describing it as a demonstration of genuine concern for the welfare and future of the children.
She noted that the uniforms, school bags and learning materials represented more than educational supplies, saying they symbolised encouragement, dignity and hope for the pupils.
“These uniforms and school bags are a source of encouragement, dignity and hope. They will inspire our pupils to attend school regularly and pursue their education with confidence,” she said.
Community leaders, parents and other stakeholders also expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and a significant boost to basic education in the area.
