The Adamawa State Government has partnered with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to inspect, commission, and formally take over several key projects executed within Yola, the state capital.
Representing the state government at the event were the Head of Service, Pharmacist Isah Shehu Ardo, mni, and the Honourable Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Humanitarian Services (MRRR), Hon. Bello Hamman Diram.
The projects inspected, commissioned, and handed over by the NEDC include:
- Wuro Chekke Solar-Powered Water Plant, supplying water to the Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery.
- Water Gathering and Distribution Plant at the College of Nursing and Midwifery.
- 1.5-kilometre Road Project at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola.
- Partially Completed Proposed Accident and Emergency Building at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola.
- Site for the Proposed NEDC State Office Building.
The projects are designed to complement the efforts of the Adamawa State Government in strengthening educational and healthcare infrastructure, while also improving access to essential services for residents.
Speaking during the exercise, government representatives commended the NEDC for its sustained intervention in the state, noting that the collaboration aligns with ongoing recovery and development efforts aimed at stabilizing communities affected by insurgency and other socio-economic challenges.
They reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining and utilizing the facilities effectively to ensure maximum benefit to the people.
The commissioning and formal handover underscore the continued partnership between the Adamawa State Government and the NEDC in advancing recovery, reconstruction, and sustainable development across the state.
