The Director General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) has revealed that the Adamawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has invested billions of naira to support micro and small businesses across the state, with women emerging as the majority of beneficiaries.

The DG disclosed this while receiving members of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Adamawa State chapter, led by its Chairperson, Felicia Dauda.

According to him, PAWECA is implementing key empowerment programmes of the state government, noting that Governor Fintiri has committed about ₦12 billion to support micro and small businesses as part of efforts to reduce poverty and promote economic growth in the state.

He also commended the growing number of women in journalism in Adamawa State, praising their unity and commitment to the profession.

In her remarks, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Felicia Amos Dauda, said women have greatly benefited from the Fintiri Business Wallet Empowerment Programme, noting that the initiative’s positive impact across the state cannot be overemphasized. She also expressed the association’s readiness to partner with PAWECA by leveraging its media networks to create awareness so that more women and vulnerable groups can benefit.

Meanwhile, the DG also received an Award of Excellence from the Nigerian Youth Council, presented by the council’s Vice President, Abdulmalik Isa, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to implementing social support programmes in Adamawa State.
