The Adamawa State Government, through the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, has commenced a four-day intensive training programme for 63 women and youth selected from the 21 local government areas of the state.
The capacity-building initiative, which focuses on cosmetology and home technology, is being held at the Women Development Centre, Yola.
Declaring the programme open, the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Hammanjuba Gatugel, urged participants to cooperate fully with facilitators and embrace a culture of learning, discipline, and teamwork to maximise the benefits of the training.
He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prioritising empowerment and skills acquisition, noting that such interventions continue to uplift communities across Adamawa State.
Also speaking, the Director-General of PAWECA, Dr. Michael Zira, encouraged the participants to take the training seriously, emphasising that business and entrepreneurship are key drivers of sustainable development.
“Anything that sustains a society is business,” he said. “If you acquire these skills and put them to use, they will help you and others. Whatever you do, do it well—there is always someone who will benefit from your effort.”
Dr. Zira further urged the trainees to not only master the skills but also transfer the knowledge to others in their communities. He applauded Governor Fintiri for strengthening human and capital development across the 21 LGAs and prayed for the participants’ success.
Earlier, the Director of Entrepreneurship in the ministry, Malam Ibrahim Usman, described the event as a significant milestone, highlighting the government’s sustained commitment to empowering women and youth through regular skills-training programmes.
He encouraged beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously and replicate the training in their communities to broaden its impact across the state.
