Ahead of the visit of the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, to Adamawa State, the executive committee of the state has removed its chairman, Mr Christopher Nicholas, over alleged selling of membership cards.

Dr Zion Maina, who read out the letter of expulsion yesterday in Yola, accused the party of not submitting a list of state executives to the INEC, which violates the party’s constitution.

Maina noted that 9,000 membership cards were issued by the national headquarters but only 5,000 copies were issued to members of the party in the state.

The sack letter was signed by 21 out of the 24 executive members of the party.

Reacting on his sack, Nicholas denied contravening rules and regulations in handling the affairs of the party.

He insisted that he remains the state chairman of the party, adding that decisions of the party are taken in conjunction with the executives and other party stakeholders.

“I want to urge the general public to disregard my purported removal as the state party chairman,” he said.

Nicholas added that the names and signatures of those who signed the vote of no confidence letter were fake. He also said the number of local government party chairmen listed to have signed the letter is fake.
