Adamawa Man Jailed For Stealing Liquor, Cigarette Sticks

A 48-year-old man, identified as Mathias Yusuf, was sentenced to a three-month jail term and ordered to perform community service on Thursday for the offence of theft.

Mathias was jailed 3 months by the Jail Delivery Committee headed by the Adamawa State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.

He was earlier remanded at the Jimeta Custodial Centre by the Chief Magistrate Court II on 19 August 2025, for the offence of theft contrary to section 278 of the Penal Code Law.

The convict told the committee that he had stolen 6 bottles of liquor as well as cigarettes at a beer parlour in Jambutu, Yola North LGA.

He drank the liquor and got drunk as a result of which he was apprehended.

He was jailed for three months from the time of his remand and ordered to clean the health facility at Jambutu.
