Governor Ahmadu Fintiri yesterday presented N225.8 billion appropriation bill for 2024 to the state assembly.
The appropriation comprises N111.3bn for recurrent services and N114.5bn for capital expenditure, made up of grants, aids and loans.
Top on the sectoral allocation is ministry of Works and Energy Development which was allocated N25.5bn, followed by ministry of Education and Human Capital Development with N15.6bn.
Fintiri said the budget would be financed from internally generated revenue and some of the state’s untapped sources within the fiscal year.
“Government will continue to look into measures and modalities of how to offset the backlog of gratuity and pensions of retired civil servants within the next fiscal year and to ensure prompt payment of salaries and overhead cost,” he said.
The governor appreciated the assembly for the speedy passage of the 2023 supplementary appropriation bill and the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper earlier brought before the assembly.
He said the passage of the bill and the framework reaffirmed the commitment and devotion of the assembly to the economic development of the state.
The 2023 budget of ₦175bn was last year approved for both the recurrent and capital expenditure of the state.
