Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has said that the state will tap into the energy of youths who are very productive and can contribute to the growth and development of the state.
Governor Fintiri made this known yesterday when he played host to international humanitarian and bikers group, Jeje Riders Nigeria at the Government House, Yola.
The governor who expressed happiness with the energy in the group of young professionals of different fields said his administration is open to working with them in developing Adamawa State.
“I completely support the drive Jeje Riders has taken upon itself to educate youths on the ills of drug abuse and peddling. Drug abuse is a big menace that is ravaging youths across the north and the country as a whole and you know what drugs do to the human mind-it kills potentials,” Governor Fintiri said.
He further stated that he is willing to support Jeje Riders in the campaign against drug abuse in the state, promising to be present in all the campaign events organised by the group in the state.
Governor Fintiri assured the group that he will be physically present at Government Secondary School, Gulak to commission the proposed E-Library to be built by the group when it is ready for commissioning.
The governor thanked Jeje Riders for the visit and wished all members of the group well in their individual careers.
He also called on youths across the country with means and energy who are also professionals to lend hands in the growth and development of the country.
Earlier in a brief remark by the president and chairman, Board of Trustee (BoT) of Jeje Riders Nigeria, Ibrahim Tizhe, thanked the governor for receiving the group in his office and said the touring bikers group were in the state to seek his support towards their humanitarian work in the state.
Tizhe on behalf of the group congratulated Governor Fintiri on his re-election as Governor of Adamawa State and pledging their support for the growth and development of the state.
He said Jeje Riders in the third quarter of 2024 planned to begin its Anti-Drugs Abuse and Peddling Campaigns across secondary schools in Adamawa State in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
He explained that the campaign is targeted at major secondary schools in the state and across the northern states of the country.
He stressed that the group is worried over the increase in the cases of drug abuse by youths of secondary school age hence, the need for quick action to discourage them from ruining their future.
Tizhe also said Jeje Riders is donating a state of the art E-Library to Government Secondary, Gulak in the state to enhance teaching and learning alongside boreholes the group intends to support needy communities.
JeJe Riders Nigeria aka JEJE SQUAD is an exclusive team of touring and adventure bikers, duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with a maximum membership of 24 Bikers from across Nigeria. It was established in 2022 in Jos, Plateau State.
The group besides international touring, is committed to providing the basic tools at aiding smooth learning in schools hence, supporting communities with basic needs, safety campaigns on road usage, health support and many more.
