The Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has approved the appointment of Professor Shehu Adamu and Professor Christine Ofulue as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration (DVC-Admin) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Technology, Innovation and Research (DVC-TIR), respectively of the university.
This was contained in separate letters of appointment dated September 5, 2025, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mr. Oladipo A. Ajayi.
In the letter to Adamu, it said: “Following your election by the University Senate at its 112th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, and subsequent ratification of Senate’s decision by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, on behalf of the Governing Council, I am pleased to convey your appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration.
“As the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, you will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and expected to assist him in the day-to-day administration of the university, with particular emphasis on providing leadership in administrative governance and institutional management towards advancing the university’s strategic goals.”
Adamu is from the university’s Faculty of Health Sciences and a former Dean of the faculty.
Equally, in the appointment letter addressed to Prof. Ofulue, it said: “Following your election by the University Senate at its 112th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, and subsequent ratification of Senate’s decision by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, on behalf of the Governing Council, I am pleased to convey your appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Technology, Innovation and Research).
“As the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (TIR), you will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and expected to assist him in the day-to-day administration of the university, with particular emphasis on providing leadership in Technology, Innovation, and Research towards advancing the University’s strategic goals.”
A press statement released by Ibrahim Sheme, Director of Media and Publicity of NOUN, said the duo’s appointments were for two years in the interim.
The council expressed confidence that their wealth of experience and dedication will significantly contribute to the realisation of the university’s vision and mission.
