The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence of winning the 2027 presidential election as well as the governorship poll in Kwara State, saying it is strengthening its internal structures ahead of the general elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of an Eid-el-Kabir get-together for party stakeholders in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He also serves as the party’s leader in Kwara State.

Abdullahi said the party would not collapse into any existing political platform but would remain open to alliances based on shared political ideology.

He said the ADC would, however, welcome individuals and groups from other parties willing to join the opposition movement.

“Our door is wide open,” he said.

At the event, the new chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, was unveiled.

Abdullahi said the party was building what he described as a strong slate of candidates across legislative and executive positions, adding that membership was growing steadily in the state.

He also said the party was considering policy ideas aimed at strengthening governance, including union-based programmes across states, similar to those implemented under the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) during the Second Republic.

According to him, the ADC is confident of displacing the ruling party at the polls, arguing that its structures and candidates were gaining traction nationwide.

He urged Nigerians to support the party in 2027, saying the country was facing worsening insecurity and economic hardship.

“Reported cases of kidnapping, banditry and killing have taken a serious toll on people in various states of the country and this has brought a lot of serious concern. This must stop and ADC is capable of causing the necessary change to move Nigeria forward,” he said.

Abdullahi called on party members to intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections, insisting that the ADC was prepared for what he described as a decisive political contest in 2027.
