The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed reservations over a recent meeting between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and some individuals identified as Adamawa ADC stakeholders.
In a statement signed by Dr. Christopher Okechuk, Director of Media and Public Affairs of the ADC, the party noted that the meeting did not have the authorization of its national leadership and, therefore, should not be considered a reflection of the party’s official position in Adamawa State.
According to Okechuk, “The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) brings to the fore a pressing concern that warrants scrutiny. The recent meeting between Atiku and the purported Adamawa ADC stakeholders raises questions about its legitimacy and representation.”
He explained that many of the attendees were not recognized members of the ADC, adding that the party would continue to ensure transparency and due process in its political engagements and partnerships.
“This development calls for careful scrutiny. The meeting appears not to have been convened through the party’s established channels, and it is important that the public and political observers insist on due process in such matters,” Okechuk stated.
The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and collaboration built on mutual respect, transparency, and adherence to party structures.
