Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commended President Bola Tinubu for restoring History as a compulsory subject to bridge a major gap in academic pursuit in educational institutions.
The governor who made the commendation during a book launch to mark the 15th coronation anniversary of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, charged Nigerian leaders to document significant events in their lives for future generations to read and learn.
Apparently moved by the documentation of the monarch’s attainments in life, Governor Adeleke promised to unveil his biography during his next birthday, adding that the culture of writing biographies and autobiographies should be encouraged as part of contribution to scholarship.
“Leaders and top officials across the society should therefore author a book about their lives. We must conserve and preserve our human history for future generations. My Spokesperson is already working on a biography to be unveiled during my birthday in 2026.
“The goal is to allow the citizens of today and tomorrow to read about the mindset of the leader, his hopes and aspirations, his challenges and successes. Biography and autobiography put readers inside the interior of leaders’ successes and setbacks,” Adeleke said.
He commended Oba Oyetunji for writing his biography, noting that Nigerians must not underestimate the power of history.
In his remarks, the Ataoja commended the authors for a well-packaged accounts of his growing up and emergence as a royal father, and recommended the book for the people to read.
