Amid uproar generated by his new policies, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke yesterday inaugurated four panels contained in his Executive Order 6 with a call to be diligent and painstaking.
Just as his spokesperson claimed that the government neither sacked any worker nor dethroned any monarch.
The panels inaugurated are: Staff Audit/Appointment/Promotions Review Committee, State Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, Contact/MOU/Agreements Review Committee, Chieftaincy Affairs Review Committee with Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji, Dr B. T. Salam, Hon. Niyi Owolade, Rev’d Bunmi Jenyo respectively will serve as chairmen.
While responding to questions during a radio personality interview programme in Osogbo, the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said it is impossible to sack and put a review panel in place.
His words: “The review panel is to look at the numbers of the people that were employed, due processes of the employment, and qualification among other things.
“The executive orders are involved…it is like a package, the initial orders read out the intentions of the administration to review, nullify, set aside and all those but the instrumentality, for effecting 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 orders were now the order six which are the panel. This is why we are ordering a staff audit, it will look into from July 17th to our taking over”.
However, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the setting up of the review panels as an afterthought and one designed to arrive at predetermined outcomes.
A release by its director of operations, Hon. Sunday Akere, said the Governor and his spokesperson are confused with the statement credited to Olawale Rasheed.
“We told you from day one that these people have nothing to offer. We can all see from their first action that they are even confused.’’
