Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has charged residents of the state to eschew violence during the exercise.
Adeleke gave the advice in his office after a closed-door meeting with the security chiefs who included Police, Army, Road Safety Corps, Correctional Service, NDLEA, Immigration Service among others.
He said as the election is fast approaching, it is very important to hold security meetings with the authorities concerned so as to ensure peaceful conduct of the election, and for the people of Osun to continue to enjoy the prevailing peace.
The governor therefore enjoined the people to go about their lawful businesses without fear or intimidation, assuring that security agents are on ground to protect the lives and properties of all and sundry.
In an interaction with newsmen, the commissioner of police Osun State Command, Mr Kehinde Longe, assured the residents that they are ever ready to protect them and ensure peace, even after the elections.
He charged the youth to desist from any act that can put them into trouble during the election, alerting that his officers and men are ready to forestall any ugly situation.
