Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has visited the former Osun governor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress to brief him on the recent controversies over local government leadership in the state.
Also, as part of the governor’s efforts to save the third tier of government from comatose in the state, he will further update key thought leaders on the development in a special briefing session with the state Council of Traditional Rulers on Thursday.
The Governor, accompanied by top state officials, visited the elder statesman at his residence in Ibadan and also discussed pressing state and national issues with the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On the burning local government issues, the governor narrated the state government’s position over recent legal controversies and restated his commitment to the rule of law in resolving the issues.
According to him, all stakeholders must avoid resorting to self-help to prevent further loss of lives and properties. He repeated his earlier calls on parties to return to court to express their viewpoints.
On national politics, Adeleke appreciated Chief Akande’s consensus-building roles in stabilising the national leadership, declaring Osun State proud of the elder statesman.
The Governor further conveyed the state government’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, informing the elder statesman that the state government enjoys a warm partnership with the federal government across all sectors.
Responding, Chief Akande commended the Governor for the visit and described the development as welcome despite differences in political affiliations.
