The new vice chancellor, Admiralty University of Nigeria, ADUN, Prof Christopher Ogbogbo, has vowed to nurture a university that is locally impactful and internationally competitive.
He stated this yesterday in Delta State on the occasion of his inauguration as the second vice chancellor of the institution, promising to further consolidate the foundations of the university for sustained growth and development.
He said doing that would require the courage to reconfigure academic tradition to suit the purpose and be ready to jettison ineffectual ideas, meaning the university must cultivate and be defined by a tradition of academic excellence that revolves around the 3H principles of education.
While pledging to work tirelessly to propel the institution to greater heights and positive visibility, Ogbogbo said everyone must have the courage to dream big, be zealous about actualizing their aspirations, and be ready to reconfigure the boundaries of scholarships for the anticipated future.
“To the staff, we have a responsibility to build a community of scholars that will be known for cutting-edge knowledge production and dissemination. I owe you the duty to support and to empower you to achieve your full potential.
“To the communities, l wave the olive branch and seek your cooperation. We shall be partners in progress and ensure the delivery of quality service to you and the larger society,” Ogbogbo assured.
Earlier, the registrar, Commodore Isaac Mankilik, said the inauguration marks not just a change in leadership, but the beginning of a new chapter of the university in the pursuit of academic excellence, innovation and societal impact.
“Your selection and appointment by the Governing Council of the university to this esteemed role is a testament to your academic process, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of higher education.
“We are confident that under your stewardship, Admiralty University of Nigeria will reach greater heights and achieve more remarkable feats. We look up to the university community to guide our institution in navigating the ever-evolving landscape of global education,” he said.
