The Kaduna State chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has begun sale and distribution of fertiliser to 4,600 farmers in the state for the 2023 farming season.

AFAN chairman in the state, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu, said at the flag-off that the commodity would be sold on loan to farmers to alleviate their financial burden.

Aminu said 200 farmers would benefit in  each of the 23 local government areas of the state.

He said the timely distribution for this year’s cropping season was aimed at boosting agriculture and ensuring food security in the state and beyond while creating wealth and providing employment for youths.

The AFAN chairman said he would  ensure that the commodity reaches the intended beneficiaries, while adding that his leadership had put in place an effective framework for sale and distribution of fertiliser across the state to reach farmers at the grassroots.

“We understand that the high cost of fertiliser and other farm implements can be a significant barrier to our farmers. That’s why we are working diligently to make these essential inputs available  to alleviate the financial burden on our farmers.

“Our aim is to empower our farmers with the essential resources to enhance crop yield, improve soil fertility, increase profitability and achieve sustainable agricultural practices,” he said.

He, however, cautioned farmers against diversion or any form of mismanagement of the commodity.

Some of the beneficiaries including Hajiya Jummai Abubakar and Malama Hauwa Usman from Giwa local government area, Umar Musa and Kabir Ahmad from Kudan local government area expressed delight with AFAN’s effort.
