Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere has commended the recent efforts by some Yoruba elders to reconcile Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George and the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group said the visit of the elders to Bode George was a good step in the right direction.
LEADERSHIP had reported that some Yoruba elders, including retired Justice Isola Olorunnimbe and the leader of the Governance Advisory Council in Lagos State, Tajudeen Olusi and others recently visited the PDP chieftain for reconciliation and also sought his support for the president-Elect.
The organising secretary of the Afenifere, Abagun Kole Omololu, who commended the move, said the group was delighted about the development.
In an interview with journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Omololu said the visit to George was commendable and reasonable.
He said the move showed the promotion of unity among Yoruba people across the globe.
Omololu added that a united Yoruba land, irrespective of political persuasions would have a tremendous effect, “In achieving the desired goal of a true federation, devolution of power, state police and fiscal federalism.”
According to him,” We in Afenifere are very delighted about the visit of the elders in the land to one of the elders in the Yoruba land Chief George. The elders saw it as an aberration for two prominent Yoruba sons to be having a misunderstanding and the elders in the land to be folding arms and watching and doing nothing.
