AFFC Calls For Open Calls For Emerging Female Filmmakers

The African Female Filmmakers Collective (AFFC) has opened calls for aspiring female filmmakers to apply for its six weeks mobile phone storytelling film lab.

Targeted at aspiring females aged 18 to 35, with or without any formal filmmaking skill, the film lab aims to sharpening participants filmmaking skills, connect them with fellow creatives, and create their own short film using a mobile phone by the end of the programme.

Selected participants will be trained on all filmmaking stages, collaborate with a team of filmmakers, showcase their films at a public screening, learn how to distribute their films to a wider audience, and gain access to professional level mobile filmmaking equipment.

Applicants must be passionate about creative storytelling, must commit to the full six weeks programme, and enjoy working in a team.

AFFC Mobile Phone Storytelling Film Lab is open August 6 to 29, 2025. Interested participants can register via link at the collective’s LinkedIn’s page.
