The Africado Foundation have received a significant boost from the Czech Republic to empower Nigerian youths through technological education. This support underscores a growing collaboration that blends international expertise with local efforts to combat unemployment and bridge the digital divide in underserved communities.
The Czech Republic’s influence on Africado Foundation’s mission became evident during a recent tour of Prague for the Cool Czechia program where 20 young African leaders, including the Foundation’s Executive Director, Mr. Richardson Ojeka, participated in a program sponsored by the Czech government. This strategic engagement introduced participants to the country’s technological advancements and educational strategies, offering insights into how technology can address global challenges.
“The lessons learned from the Czech Republic are invaluable,” Mr. Ojeka shared. “Their approach to technology education emphasizes not just skill acquisition but also innovation to solve real-world problems. This is the model we aim to replicate in Nigeria, particularly in rural and underserved areas.”
Inspired by the Czech experience, Africado Foundation is expanding its “Tech in Trenches” program, which focuses on equipping young Nigerians with essential digital skills and fostering innovation. The Foundation’s Tech Clubs, currently operating in 15 schools within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have become hubs for students to engage with technology, develop problem-solving skills, and explore potential careers in the digital economy. With approval to extend these clubs to more schools, Africado is set to scale its impact.
“Our Tech Clubs have become a beacon of hope for many students,” Mr. Ojeka remarked. “Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and innovative projects, we are preparing young people to thrive in the digital age and contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
The study tour in Prague not only highlighted technological advancements but also emphasized the importance of integrating culture and innovation. The Czech Republic’s holistic approach to education has inspired Africado Foundation to adopt strategies that prioritize practical learning and entrepreneurship. Programs like TechXelerate and other youth mentorship initiatives have been instrumental in reaching thousands of Nigerian youths, equipping them with tools to overcome unemployment and drive community development.
“Unemployment remains one of Nigeria’s greatest challenges,” Mr. Ojeka noted. “Through our initiatives, we empower young people not only to secure jobs but also to create opportunities for others. By fostering technological innovation and entrepreneurship, we address the root causes of unemployment and help communities thrive.”
This collaboration with the Czech Republic exemplifies the power of international partnerships in driving social transformation. With continued support from global and local stakeholders, Africado Foundation is paving the way for a future where technology serves as a catalyst for economic growth and sustainable development in Nigeria.
“Our vision is to see every Nigerian youth equipped with the skills to excel in a tech-driven world,” Mr. Ojeka concluded. “With the Czech Republic’s support, we are building a future where innovation and entrepreneurship drive sustainable progress.”
The Africado Foundation’s renewed focus, bolstered by Czech expertise, sets a new standard for youth empowerment in Nigeria, proving that with the right tools and partnerships, the next generation can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
