The African Democratic Congress (ADC) yesterday commissioned its new National Secretariat in Abuja, reaffirming its ambition to reemerge as a major political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event was attended by top party leaders and stakeholders drawn across the 36 states.

According to the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the unveiling underscores its transition from a peripheral actor to a credible national alternative rooted in accountability, discipline, and service-driven leadership.

“This is not just a building, this is the launch of a new chapter guided by the people’s call for good governance, accountability, and a truly responsive democracy,” Mark said.

Senator Mark further declared an end to what he described as “old divisions and unproductive politics,” and urged members to embrace higher standards of integrity, competence, and unity as the campaign season draws closer.

“Politics must return to leadership, and leadership must return to responsibility and service. The future begins now,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, addressing speculation over the building’s ownership at a press conference,  the party’s national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed claims suggesting links to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He insisted that the ADC holds full legal occupancy of the property.

“Atiku’s lease expired. The building no longer has any connection to his campaign,” Abdullahi clarified. “The ADC is open to all leaders but is not owned or controlled by any single individual.”

He also disclosed that a 90-day transition committee is already operational across states ahead of the party’s congresses scheduled for February 2026. A nationwide membership registration exercise is set to begin next week in line with INEC guidelines.

On rumours about coalition partners such as Peter Obi exiting the party, Abdullahi denied any such move.

“No one has left. We allowed time for consolidation after the Anambra elections. That time has passed, and all partners remain in the fold,” he explained.

Responding to questions about the party’s readiness to challenge the ruling APC in 2027, the spokesperson said the party’s strength rests on connecting with frustrated Nigerians.

“It’s clear Nigerians are tired of the APC. The real question is whether the ADC can convince them it is the credible alternative, and we believe we can,” he said.

He added that the party will introduce a strict code of conduct to instill discipline, stressing that the ADC’s goal is not just to win elections but to “reset politics” in Nigeria.

“We will not allow decay or disorder to be imported into the ADC,” Abdullahi affirmed.
