African Men’s Volleyball Championship: Nigeria Face Morocco In Quarter-Final Test

Nigeria’s senior men’s volleyball team will face Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2026 African Men’s Nations Volleyball Championship on Monday, with head coach Ryan Masajedi confident of securing a place in the semi-finals.

Morocco reached the last eight after defeating DR Congo 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 29-27) in the Round of 16 on Saturday.

Masajedi said his technical crew had studied Morocco’s performance and identified areas Nigeria could exploit.

“I watched the match between Morocco and DR Congo with the players and saw their weaknesses and their strengths,” he said.

“They understand volleyball, they play with a system and they are consistent.”

The coach identified Nigeria’s serving as a potential weapon against Morocco, particularly because of what he described as weaknesses in the North Africans’ reception.

“I think the serve is very important for us. They have a problem with their reception,” Masajedi said.

“If we make good serves, some good blocks, good defence and win the break points, we have a big chance to get the better of them.”

Nigeria will need a disciplined display across the court to overcome Morocco and secure a place in the continental championship’s final four.
