A non-governmental organisation, Africa Women Conference, has congratulated Princess Edna Azura, over her recent inauguration as the 16th national president of the National Council of Women Societies in Nigeria (NCWS).
The co-convener, Africa Women Conference, Dr Jumai Ahmadu, in a statement yesterday said Princess Azura who was inaugurated for a two-year tenure, is a leader whose dedication to advocating for women’s rights and empowerment are truly inspiring.
While congratulating her on her inauguration, Dr Jumai Ahmadu stated, “As you embark on this new journey, we are confident that your vision will foster unity, strength, and progress among women in Nigeria and across the continent. Your commitment to addressing critical issues facing women and promoting gender equality will undoubtedly make a profound impact.”
Expressing support for Princess Azura’s initiatives and promising to work together for a brighter future for women, Dr. Ahmadu
encouraged the new NCWS president to be just and fair in discharging her responsibilities for the benefit of all Nigerian women.
She added that as a woman of strength, vision, and dedication, Mrs. Azura embodies true leadership and commitment to advance the rights and welfare of women across Nigeria, saying she’s confident that her tenure would usher in remarkable progress for women, families and communities.
Princess Azura takes over as the 16th national president following the death of the former president, Lami Lau, on June 5, 2024 after a brief illness.
