Africa’s First Dance Film Festival Calls For Submissions

Africa’s first dance film festival in Egypt and the Arab region, Breaking Walls Festival (BWF) has opened calls for dance film submissions by filmmakers across the globe.

The Breaking Walls Dance Film festival in its fourth edition invites submissions of films focused on various genres of dance of no more than 40 minutes and no less than 5 minutes, to compete for the awards in the following categories: the Majda Saleh Award for Best Film by Jury’s Choice, People’s Choice Movie Award, Best Animation Design Award by Jury’s Choice, Best Music Video Award by Jury’s Choice, Best Photography Award by Jury’s Choice, and the award for the Best Arabic film by the jury. Best Film Award will receive a $1000 cash prize by the NUT Dance Company.

There will also be awards for the Best Film Audience’s Choice, Best Choreography, Best Soundtrack, Best Cinematography and Best Arab Film Awards. 

Films for submission must be no older than three years post its production, and should be submitted on or before September 15, 2024; while the festival will take place in Cairo, Egypt in December 2024.

BWF also welcomes documentaries or feature films related to the subject of dance to be screened at the sideline of festival. These films should be either produced (in English) or subtitled in English Language.
