The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) is set to return this November with a powerful, week-long celebration of African music, creativity, and culture, following an official endorsement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the inauguration of a Federal Government-backed Local Organising Committee (LOC).

Scheduled to hold in Lagos from November 25 to 30, the 2025 edition of AFRIMA is themed “Unstoppable Africa” and will feature six days of immersive music-related activities, honouring outstanding talent and promoting the continent’s cultural wealth.

This year’s event follows a successful edition hosted in Dakar, Senegal, and will mark a symbolic homecoming for AFRIMA, which debuted in Nigeria in 2014. President Tinubu’s approval, delivered in response to a request from the African Union Commission, has been hailed as a significant show of confidence in Nigeria’s creative economy.

AFRIMA’s executive producer and President, Mr. Mike Dada, expressed gratitude to the President and the federal government for what he described as a visionary step. He said the 2025 edition would reinforce AFRIMA’s position as Africa’s premier music awards and cultural platform.

“With this support from the federal government and Lagos State, we are confident that this will be the most memorable AFRIMA ever held. Nigeria remains Africa’s creative powerhouse, and it’s time to show the world why,” Dada said.

Also speaking, Mrs. Ugochi Akudo-Nwosu, director of Entertainment and Creative Economy in the Ministry, confirmed Mr. President’s support and praised the joint effort of federal institutions in ensuring the event’s success.

The LOC includes representatives from several key federal ministries, Information and National Orientation, Interior, Youth, Education, and Aviation, as well as top agencies such as the Nigerian Film Corporation, National Film and Video Censors Board, and the National Council for Arts and Culture.

Founded in 2013 in partnership with the African Union, AFRIMA celebrates musical excellence while driving economic growth, talent development, and cultural exchange. Its seven pillars include an awards ceremony, music festivals, a business hub, creative academy, talent promotion, policy advisory, and CSR/community support.

The six-day event will run from November 25 to 30, featuring a series of exciting activities. The Diamond Showcase will take center stage, highlighting exceptional talent from across the continent.

The Africa Music Business Summit is scheduled for November 27 and 28, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss trends and innovations in the industry. The festivities will continue  with the AFRIMA Music Village ,  a night of non-stop live music performances celebrating pan-African sound and culture.

The spotlight shifts to the Nominees and Industry Party, offering a night of networking and celebration.

The grand finale comes with the prestigious AFRIMA Awards Ceremony, honoring outstanding achievements in African music.

Stakeholders believe that with strong backing from the Nigerian government, AFRIMA 2025 is more than a music event, it’s a celebration of Africa’s voice.
