The residents of Kakuri Hausa, Makera constituency, Kaduna State, are excited that the electricity supply was restored to their community following a report by LEADERSHIP.
It was gathered that electricity was restored at the midnight of April 2, 2025.
LEADERSHIP reported on March 31, 2025, that the community had been in darkness since April last year, which forced some businessmen and women to relocate.
LEADERSHIP also reported that the community had called on the Kaduna governor, Uba Sani, to address the lingering power outage in their community.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP yesterday, a resident of the community who identified herself as Mrs Dominic commended the power distribution company for yielding to their cry and intervening, saying businesses in the community will soon return to their usual places after electricity is restored.
She said, “They restored our light on Wednesday night. We are grateful to Kaduna Electric for yielding to our cry. We are happy to see light again after 11 months.
“We applaud Kaduna Electric for what they have done so far, but we beg them not to throw us into darkness again.”
The community leader, Alhaji Inuwa Mohammed, who had earlier spoken to our correspondent about the situation, applauded LEADERSHIP for being a voice to the voiceless.
He commended the distribution company for restoring light to their community and prayed to God to bless them.
